FAQ

What is your scope of practice as a holistic nutritionist?

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition (MSCN) and practice as a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) candidate in the state of Maine. Maine allows for the legal and independent practice of nutrition as long as practitioners do not claim to be licensed dietitians or treat medical conditions outside their scope.

At Root & Rise Nutrition, I provide:

  • Personalized nutrition and lifestyle support
  • Functional lab interpretation within a nutritional context
  • Guidance on supplements and meal planning
  • Educational support for health concerns like digestive issues, hormone imbalance, fertility, and postpartum recovery

I do not diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions. I collaborate with your healthcare team and refer out when appropriate.

Do you offer functional lab testing?

Yes! I partner with trusted platforms like Rupa Health and Nutrigenomix to offer functional and genetic lab testing that can provide deeper insight into your health. These tools help us create more personalized and precise nutrition strategies tailored to your unique needs.

Examples of labs offered include:

  • GI-MAP (via Rupa) for gut microbiome analysis, pathogens, digestion, and inflammation
  • Nutrigenomix Genetic Testing to understand how your genes affect nutrition, metabolism, detoxification, and more
  • Micronutrient panels and hormone testing (as applicable)
  • Many more

Testing is always optional and never required. If a lab will add value to your care, we’ll discuss the process, pricing, and how to interpret the results in a way that supports your nutrition plan.

Do you accept insurance? What are your payment policies

At this time, Root & Rise Nutrition is a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance. However, you may be able to use:

HSA/FSA cards for nutrition services and lab tests (check with your provider)

Payment is due at the time of booking, and all services must be prepaid. Packages may be paid in full or in monthly installments. Sliding scale options are available on a limited basis—please inquire via email if cost is a barrier.
